Thirteen co-ops in Virginia, one in Maryland and one in Delaware are members of The Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC). Electric cooperatives are consumer-owned, state-chartered electric utilities. The Association is the largest consumer organization in each of the three states.

Director of Regulatory Affairs

The Virginia, Maryland, Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives is seeking a nimble and energetic regulatory professional to become its next Director of Regulatory Affairs. This position will analyze, monitor, and report on regulations affecting locally owned community-minded utilities in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware, with a focus on Virginia. This position will work with the Government Affairs team to develop and maintain effective relationships with Virginia regulators and agencies and other policymakers in the mid-Atlantic region. Reporting to the Vice President for Regulatory Affairs, the position will assist Virginia’s Electric Cooperatives with utility regulatory matters, administrative matters and other similar work.

A successful candidate will have experience working with the State Corporation Commission, other Virginia agencies, regulatory utility experience, or other related experience, including advocacy, policy, or legislative work in Virginia. A four-year college degree is preferred. Federal, Maryland, and/or Delaware experience is a plus. Must be familiar with regulatory affairs in Virginia and at the federal level.
