Powell Valley Electric Cooperative (New Tazewell, TN) does not participate in Virginia net energy metering because it is a Tennessee Valley Authority member-distributor.  For more information about NEM in PVEC territory, please click here.  If you have questions, please email Sam Brumberg, Esq. at [email protected]

Please note that, in the absence of a NEM transition, the only customers that are eligible for third-party partial requirements power purchase agreements (PPAs) are nonprofit and nonjurisdictional customers who are exempt from federal income taxation.  A PPA may only be entered into with a registered PPA provider.  To become a registered PPA provider, please click here. When a Cooperative enters a transition, this website will be updated and the Cooperative’s caps will be updated accordingly.

Please ensure that Sections 1-4 of Virginia SCC Form NMIN are completed and returned to you as approved by the utility before beginning any construction on any NEM renewable fuel generator.  Interconnecting and energizing a renewable fuel generator before receiving approval to do so creates a life safety hazard for electric linemen and is strictly prohibited by Virginia law.

For questions about NEM in Cooperative territories, please do not hesitate to contact Sam Brumberg, Esq., counsel to VMDAEC at [email protected].  We are here to be a resource for you and assist you in implementing Virginia’s NEM regulations for the benefit of our member-consumers and your customers.
