VMDAEC EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATIONProviding scholarships for post-secondary education to deserving but financially challenged students from our member electric cooperative territories.
Each year, the Education Scholarship Foundation awards $1,000 scholarships. A combination of weighted criteria is used in the selection process: 40% financial need; 40% academic achievement; and 20% personal statement. Funds can be applied towards tuition, student fees, room and board, or textbooks. More details are listed here.
The 2020-21 scholarship application has closed as of April 7, 2021.
- Primary residence of applicant’s parent or legal guardian must receive its power from one of the 15 electric cooperatives served by Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC). For a list of qualifying electric cooperative service territories, visit here.
- Applicants applying for a 2021 scholarship must be a senior graduating from either high school or home school in 2021.
- Applicant must be entering his or her first semester at a post-secondary school in the fall of 2021.
2019-2020 scholarship recipients
Scholarships awarded by the foundation are sustained by your local cooperative and financial contributions that may take many forms. These include tax-deductible contributions to the Foundation and are always welcomed! Your donation can be a gift, done anonymously, or in honor or memory of a specific individual.
