Old Dominion Electric Cooperative has named Chris Cosby as senior vice president of power supply. He will formally assume the position on March 2. Rick Beam, currently senior vice president of power supply and chief operating officer, will retire March 1 after more than 30 years of service to ODEC.

“We are extremely pleased that Chris has accepted the role of SVP of power supply,” said Marcus Harris, president and CEO of ODEC. “Chris’s strong leadership skills, strategic thinking capabilities, clear communications style and significant operational experience will allow him to hit the ground running in this new position and will help ODEC achieve many of its strategic priorities in the coming years.”
“I am thrilled by the opportunity to serve ODEC, and our 11-member distribution cooperatives, in the position of senior VP,” said Cosby. “ODEC has a long history of providing reliable, affordable and sustainable power to our members, and I look forward to helping write the next chapters in the cooperative’s journey.”
Since joining ODEC in 2018, Cosby has served as director of asset management, focusing on ODEC’s jointly owned generation assets, and as vice president of regulatory affairs, focusing on ODEC’s interactions with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the PJM Interconnection.
Prior to joining ODEC, Cosby served in numerous positions of increasing responsibility in the utility industry, including positions at Dominion Energy, General Electric and Alstom Power.
Prior to his utility career, Cosby spent 10 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy as an officer and pilot flying the P-3 Orion. During this time, he deployed throughout western Europe, South America, Iceland and Puerto Rico. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
