After two years of pandemic-related postponements, plans are well underway for the Gaff-n-Go Lineworker Rodeo, to be held May 13-14 at Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Va., near King’s Dominion.
Everyone is looking forward to the return of the rodeo, which is one of the biggest events of its kind in the country. We have regularly featured more than 100 lineworkers from cooperatives, municipal systems, investor-owned utilities, the military and contractors from multiple states. We expect this year to be the same and even bigger.
All registration is being handled online at this link. You should have a single coordinator as a point of contact when you register a team. Please note that each participant will receive an email with a link to complete their emergency medical and indemnification forms. These must be returned by May 1.
There will be numerous other activities associated with the rodeo. On May 13, we will have our Gaff-n-Grill event. Teams must be registered for that by May 1, as well, and we need to know who will be attending the free barbecue dinner to follow. Our barbecue artists will be featured in an upcoming issue of Cooperative Living as part of our recipe section. Details are available on the website.
We will be having our T-shirt design contest this year, and, for the first time, all entries in the Cooperative Living Youth Art Contest will be on display at the rodeo for judging.
