BLC 952.1 Increasing Influence & Building Board Consensus

Electric cooperative boards face new challenges in finance, technology, and energy transition while navigating shifting population demographics. This course provides directors with the skills necessary to successfully meet these complex challenges. Through group discussion and case studies, participants will learn enhanced conflict resolution, negotiation techniques, how to navigate difficult power asymmetries, establishing influence, and the importance of team diversity in avoiding group think.

Facilitator: Lauren Gore

Co-founder and Partner, LDR Investment Group, Lead Principal at LDR Advisory Partners

With a background in law, risk management, and operations, Lauren Gore’s practice specializes in the design, implementation, and operation of complex multi-party strategic growth ventures. In addition, Gore regularly teaches executive and board-level courses in negotiation, probability and decision-making methodologies.

Before LDR, Gore was a deals and projects attorney with Baker Botts LLP. He served in the United States Army as an Airborne-Ranger qualified Infantry Officer with a combat deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. Gore serves as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for Combined Arms, a veteran serving non-profit organization committed to uniting veteran service organizations through data and communities. Prior to his graduation from Harvard Law School, Lauren taught interest based negotiation courses with Harvard University’s Program on Negotiations at both Harvard and Tufts Universities. Lauren is also a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
