Jacob Newton serves as the new director of regulatory affairs and counsel at the VMD Association.
He graduated from Shenandoah University with a bachelor’s degree in both political science and criminal justice in 2017. He received his law degree from the University of Richmond in 2021, where he focused primarily on criminal law and trial advocacy.
In law school, he was a staff member of the Journal of Law and Technology and worked for the Virginia Department of Corrections in the Policy and Initiatives Unit, handling regulatory affairs. After law school, Jacob passionately served the citizens of Virginia as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney in Brunswick County and now looks forward to serving the cooperatives and their members with the same commitment.
Jacob currently resides in Chesterfield with his wife, Mallory, and their goldendoodle, Moose.
