Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s Information Technology & Cybersecurity department continues to take steps to keep its network as secure as possible.
Doug King has been named as the Cooperative’s Director – Cyber & Information Security Officer. King will provide leadership and oversight of REC’s Cyber & Information Security department. Some of his key responsibilities will be to ensure REC is protected around the clock against advanced persistent threats.
“Strengthening our systems and keeping our information protected is a critical initiative at REC,” said Marc Seay, Managing Director – Information Technology & Cybersecurity. “Mr. King has many years of experience in protecting organizations from all forms of malicious cyber threats that exist, including cyber intrusion and ransomware.”
King holds an associate’s degree in computer information systems from Ashworth College and is working towards completing his bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity and information services from Western Governors University.
In addition, REC has named Bret Elliott as Director – IT Infrastructure & Networking. Elliott will provide leadership and oversight of REC’s IT Infrastructure & Networking department and move REC’s IT Infrastructure & Networking services into the future. Some of his key responsibilities will be to ensure REC’s systems are available and optimized.
“IT infrastructure and networking are the essential foundation to providing all business systems and solutions we rely on every day,” said Seay. “Mr. Elliott has many years of experience in implementing and supporting large scale IT infrastructures.”
Elliott holds a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in computer science from Clemson University and a MBA from Winthrop University.
