FROM READING TO TEACHING – Kristyn Owen Chapman, a teacher at Chase City Elementary School, is congratulated by John Lee for coming full circle … Chapman first attended MEC’s accelerated reader celebration as a fifth grader in 2008.

Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative recently hosted a hot dog lunch to reward the highest achievers in the Accelerated Reader program at Chase City Elementary School. John C. Lee Jr., MEC president and CEO, addressed the approximately 100 students in attendance, emphasizing the necessity for good reading skills in every profession and encouraging them to continue in the AR program. After lunch, students got to talk to lineworkers about what they do. At the end of the program, each student was recognized and received a special gift.
