Empower Broadband, the wholly owned subsidiary of Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative that is bringing high-speed internet to Southside Virginia, has gotten some national publicity for its efforts.

A recent piece from NRECA News described the multiple ways in which the service is reaching customers — through arrangements with a telephone cooperative, Dominion Energy and a cable television operation.

David Jones, chairman of the Empower board of directors, said, “The opportunity to fast-track the delivery of service to so many homes is a game-changer for those communities.”
