It’s not every day we get to celebrate exceptional talent and dedication. This week, however, was one of those rare moments when we had the honor of acknowledging an individual who has made significant contributions to our organization and the larger community. We were privileged to present the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives 2023 Distinguished Service Award to none other than Mr. Steve Yost.
This esteemed award is a recognition of Steve’s tireless dedication, hard work, and significant contributions to our industry. For his nearly half a century of dedicated, distinguished service as general counsel to Craig-Botetourt Electric Cooperative. It is a testament to his commitment to excellence, his leadership, and his unwavering belief in the power of cooperation and community service.
The award presentation was a heartwarming event, with Steve’s family, current and previous CBEC employees, the CBEC Board of Directors, as well as Steve’s long time colleagues in attendance. The palpable sense of camaraderie, mutual respect, and admiration was a powerful reminder of the impact Steve has had not just within our organization, but in the lives of those he has worked with and served throughout his career.
Steve’s journey to this point is nothing short of inspiring. He has shown time and time again that with perseverance, commitment, and a deep-seated belief in the power of cooperation, significant milestones can be achieved. His tireless efforts have helped shape the trajectory of the Craig-Botetourt Electric Cooperative, and his influence will undoubtedly be felt for years to come.
As we celebrate Steve’s impressive career and the recognition of his work through the Distinguished Service Award, we are reminded of the power of dedication and the impact of service. We are inspired by his journey and motivated to carry forward his legacy of commitment to excellence, cooperation, and community service.
