Earlier this month, more than 30 human resources professionals from VMDAEC member cooperatives came together for the annual HR Roundtable.
The two-day meeting began with a discussion about compliance, employment laws and regulations led by Betsy Davis with Whiteford, Taylor & Preston legal services. The remainder of the event was facilitated by Michael Frizzell with MDF Human Resources Consulting, also an event sponsor. Topics covered included hiring, retention and development. Co-op culture and future trends were also discussed.
“The HR roundtable is a great example of Cooperation among Cooperatives,” says Paula Bishop, vice president of human resources at Choptank Electric Cooperative. “I always enjoy meeting and engaging with other HR professionals and usually leave each year with a few ideas to take back to my cooperative.”
