Legislative Day is on its way!
In just a few days, the General Assembly will gavel in for the 2022 legislative session. With 17 new members of the House of Delegates and three new statewide elected leaders, your participation in Co-op Legislative Day 2022 is more important than ever.
Each year, the VMDAEC Government Affairs team works to develop and maintain relationships with legislators across the Commonwealth, but nothing can replace the personal relationship that you make with your local legislative delegations. New and returning legislators value your first-hand experience with running your cooperative and will turn to you as subject matter experts on all things related to electric cooperatives.
After an exciting election season that brought a wave of new leaders to Richmond, Legislative Day is our first and best opportunity to continue deepening your relationships with your legislative delegation. Already this year, bills are being filed that will impact cooperatives. We hope you will join us in Richmond for Legislative Day to show legislators that their constituents are being provided the highest quality essential services by their local electric cooperatives.
Legislative Day will take place at the Hilton Downtown Hotel in Richmond on Jan. 24-25. This year, we are offering two legislative briefings to ensure that all participants have ample time to discuss our legislative agenda and ask any questions before their legislative meetings. As always, Legislative Day will feature exciting programming, including an ACRE Awards Presentation and special guest speaker, Dr. Bob Holsworth.
