Directors Reelected at NNEC Annual Meeting
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative members elected three of their peers to serve on NNEC’s Board of Directors. This year’s election occurred at NNEC’s 85th Annual Meeting on April 5. More than 1,000 members participated virtually and voted by returning their proxy designation card. Russell G. "Rusty" Brown was reelected to represent Richmond County, Mary Catherine T. Jones was reelected to represent Northumberland County and Ralph E. Sutton was reelected to represent King George County. Fiber Tech Apprenticeship Enrollment Opens
In collaboration with Fiber Broadband Association and S&N Communications, the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives is excited to open enrollment into its first Fiber OpTIC certification class, which is scheduled to begin Feb. 21. An email was recently sent to all training coordinators regarding the curriculum, details, cost and schedule.

Celebrating a Four-Year Journey
Family members, supervisors and others gathered on Jan. 27 in celebration of the completion of a four-year apprenticeship by 12 young line technicians representing electric cooperatives and municipal utilities.

Lee Recognized for Service by NRECA Board
After serving three years on the board of directors of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, John C. Lee Jr., president and CEO of Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative in Chase City, will not seek reelection.

DEC Hero Rescues Trapped Driver, Saves Life
In the early-morning hours of Dec. 22, Delaware Electric Cooperative hot-bucket crew chief Ben Salisbury was responding to a power outage when he came across an overturned vehicle outside of Greenwood. He quickly assisted the driver and saved a life.
